Why not extend your child's life and take the consequences?
by I_love_Jeff injehovah's witnesses & blood transfusions.
if your son or daughter were badly burned, he or she would require regular whole blood transfusions.
as a good jehovah's witness, it is your duty to refuse this procedure and watch your child die instead.

2018/19 new light
by Ray Frankz inhi guys, long time without paying a visit to this site.
today i returned to check a 'gossip' that is running around in brazilian exjw forums.. they are stating that is almost certain they will make a big change in their doctrine maybe this year yet in the annual meeting.
they say people in warwick were commenting on this.

Jehovah’s Witness dating rules
by Addison0998 ini’m sorry that i talk about dating a lot, i know it is probably very annoying, but you don’t have to read it.
but did anyone else have the most difficult time dating as a young jw?
me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year in half, we are in our early 20’s, and we are still not allowed to hold hands, cuddle or kiss.

things were somewhat different when i was "in"--this was 50 years ago. i used to stay over at my born in girlfriends house some weekends. friday night was meeting night. saturday mornings her devout dub parents used to drive off to the main city for a few hours spent shopping. their daughter and i spent the time in bed together. we did get married--no shotgun required. i was 20..she was 19.

Why does it affect us so deeply?
by stuckinarut2 ini was having a great chat with a valued friend and fellow forum member today on the phone.. we were discussing how deeply we all get affected by jw interactions - even years after fading or disassociating.. you know what i mean.
those days when we run into jws who we considered to be our close friends.
or "loving shepherds" who don't act kindly.

i was very lucky. my mum got religion when i was about 10 years old. sure--i went along with it mainly because it had to be the right thing because we were in it ! after a few years i realised i wasnt interested in it--just going through the motions to make others happy.
that all changed in my early 20's and i wasnt going to live the lie anymore. sure--others got hurt--but that was their problem--not mine.

"We don't do that" - Serena Williams talking about celebrating birthdays
by vivalavida ini guess you can be physically out, like in a huge way, but definitely mentally in.. serena williams claims she won't be celebrating her daughter's first birthday.. i did know people like that, raised as a jw but never actually baptizing.
that didn't mean they were not messed up in the head though..

Eldub BIL, and Df'ed Kid's!!!!
by DwainBowman inmy super fine eldub bil, has a son that's been df'ed for a long time.
last month he deeded off 1/4 of an acre of land in the back of his pasture, bought a small local built used tiny house, and got it all set up, for his son to live in.
to everyone of the jw's in this area really look up to him and his stand on having nothing to do with his df'ed kid's or grandkids.

i left the cult in my 20's..but my dub dad and mum never shunned me. i lived in sin for a while--smoked and swore. made no difference. my parents had a close natural bond with me. blood being thicker than water. my dad was an elder for many years during that time. we just never talked about his religion.

Strange first names among jw's
by fulano indo you remember those families where all the sons and daughters had weird biblical names?.
i recall a " machlon" , "eunice" , even a "jehosafath".
can you believe it..

yep--i named my first son Nathan--even though he was born in 1976 and i was long gone from the cult by then. his being conceived in 1975 was no accident.
the name Nathan was almost unheard of in the UK back then, but it certainly started a trend.

Can you disassociate on your last judicial committee for apostasy?
by jwdoctrine inhi guys, i have been summoned to a judicial committee for apostasy.
i'm going to disassociate anyway but i don't want to miss the fun .i'm thinking of handing my letter of dissociation on the night of the committee.do you think this is a good idea?.
as i said i have already made my mind up.

i resigned at a committee meeting--after the presiding overseer had said there was no case to answer--just a misunderstanding via the rumour mill. i said from now on i'm Mr--not brother--if they want to talk to me. but that was about 45 years ago..
it didnt make any real difference back then---no one shunned me or ignored me if we bumped into each other. all that came years later....after it was announced in the congregation i was an apostate and no one should talk to me. fine by me.

What JW habits do you still have?
by Exelder insince leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.
however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.
1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).
